Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual: EYES

Hello! Welcome to another blog post. Playing around and experimenting with eye looks is one of the most fun parts of makeup. There are endless possibilities to looks you can create. Makeup can enhance your eyes and make them stand out more it all depends on what colors and techniques you use. "The purpose of eye makeup-whether its simple black mascara or dramatic contouring shadow-is to make the eyes stand out" (Brown 67).

Eyebrows
Your eyebrow shape has a huge impact on your face and it can change the way you look. In the book Brown suggests that eyebrows are supposed to be groomed and if you find the ideal shape it forms a great frame for your eyes (Brown 67). I have black hair so in the book it states my eyebrow shadow, pencil, and sharper tones should be the darkest brown, or dark gray but never black. To shape your brows you should follow an imaginary line drawn from the outside of the nose to the inside corner of the eye (Brown 68).

Eye Shadow
I personally have brown eyes and the book suggested to use sable and cement as a color so pictured below are the shades I found matched closely.

I applied this a the base shadow since in the book it suggest to use a light shadow as a base on the lid. Brush it all over the lid, from the lash line to the brow bone.
After I applied the medium-toned shadow all over my lid which is the cement color suggested. Then I applied the deeper shade on the outer corner which is the sable color suggested. Make sure to keep blending with fingers (Brown 73).

Eyeliner
I used a liquid eyeliner. The formula is longer lasting. Brown says to start lining from the middle of the lash line moving to the outside of the corner, gently apply the eyeliner in smooth strokes (Brown 78). This was one of the hardest things to do out of everything!

Mascara
Lashes open up your eyes and it is one of the most important parts of makeup! There are different formulas such as thickening mascara, lengthening mascara, waterproof mascara, and colored mascara. You want to try out a variety before you choose which is best suited for you, personally I prefer waterproof mascara because it makes my lashes stay up longer.

Before you apply mascara you want to curl your eyelashes. You want to gently start swiping and look down while you begin at the outside of your eye.

Eyelashes
They are used to make more dramatic looks or to add to those who have sparse lashes.

You are going to grab tweezers to hold them. Drip them in glue and wait a few seconds to make the glue stick. Black is preferred because it blends right in. You then will start applying them from the outside of the eye then go in towards the eye.

Finished Eye

What is your favorite part of the eyes? Doing the eyebrows, eye shadow, lashes, or eyeliner? Do you think eyeliner is a hard or easy process?
